In the war on nicotine, the Hawaii Tobacco Quit Line is the war room. Calls in and follow-up calls going out are at an all-time high. It appears many people in Hawaii are trying to quit smoking.

Quit smoking by Jan. 16: Classes start in 3 weeks (Marin Independent Journal)
A smoking cessation class will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 2 at 171 Carlos Drive, sponsored by Bay Area Community Resources. The class includes six sessions, with a "quit day" set for Jan. 16.

Tupelo smoking ban holds (djournal.com)
OXFORD U.S. District Judge Michael P. Mills has refused to stop enforcement of Tupelo s smoking ordinance. The 11-page opinion was made public by mid-morning Friday. In the opinion, Mills struck the word civil from the ordinance because the law calls violation of the law a misdemeanor.
