There are many reasons to quit smoking...

There are many reasons to quit smoking. If you are not thinking of stopping smoking or are thinking of starting smoking for the kick of it, please think hard again. There are many valid reasons why you should not touch another or pick up your first cigarette. The notes below are the main reasons why you must stop smoking:

1) Since cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the US that is preventable, it is shocking and distressing to know that young adults do not know the major risk factors for heart disease, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, and being overweight. This finding was revealed by Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago based on a survey of nearly 4,200 healthy young adults with an average age of 30.

2) Smokers who quit, lower their risk of respiratory infections, according to the latest finding by researchers. This is due to the fact that beneficial bacteria in the nose and throat soon return to normal levels. Harmless microbes that reside in the nasal passages and throat help prevent disease-causing bacteria from causing any harm. Levels of these so-call "interfering bacteria" are reduced in smokers.

3) Researchers in the UK, in a review of studies reported that smokers had a higher chance of getting infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Tobacco smoke may increase the susceptibility to HIV due to changes of the inherent immune system response.

4) You can always pick a regular smoker out of a crowd, not just by the stench but by his or her skin quality as well. Smokers have 10 times more wrinkles than nonsmokers. In fact, one study found that smokers with prominent wrinkles are five times more likely to suffer from chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases like emphysema and bronchitis than non-smokers.

5) One study followed more than 1,000 smokers and non-smokers over the span of five years and found that the smoker group was twice as likely to suffer from major depression as compared to the non-smoker group.

6) Smoking is the number 1 leading cause of preventable disease and death in America. Smokers risk developing cancer of the mouth, throat and lungs, as well as asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Not only does smoking affect your airways, smokers are also more prone to high blood pressure, high LDL (bad) cholesterol, strokes and heart disease. In fact, a smoker's risk of dying from sudden cardiac death (heart attack) is 2-4 times greater than non-smokers.

7) Women who smoke during their pregnancy are more likely to experience ectopic pregnancies - where the fertilized egg develops outside of the uterus - a condition that can be fatal for both mother and baby. Other risks to the baby's health include lower birth weight and birth defects. And, women who smoke during pregnancy are more likely to deliver prematurely or miscarry.

8) It has long been known that male smokers generally have a lower sperm count, but new studies indicate genetic mutations of the sperm may also be to blame for infertility. Male smokers are also at a higher risk of becoming impotent. Women smokers may also have a harder time getting pregnant.

For people who are classed as non-smokers it is quite difficult to fully comprehend why other people decide to smoke cigarettes...

For people who are classed as non-smokers it is quite difficult to fully comprehend why other people decide to smoke cigarettes. Not only do most of them find it hard to understand, they even go as far as thinking how stupid it is that these smokers would choose to waste their hard earned money and damage their health in this way. In this article I am going to attempt to educate these non-smokers into why other people smoke, however it might be worth smokers taking a read as well as it might actually help you to quit.

I remember many years ago when I was around fourteen years of age I went to a house party with a few friends. I am not sure why but I had the impression that one would look cool if you had a cigarette in your hand. This impression possibly came about from watching rock and movie stars at their celebrity parties with a fag in their mouths. Looking back I must say that I was rather stupid and nieve. At this party I was offered a cigarette and was quite happy to have a try etc. I expected a huge buzz from smoking the tobacco and was rather disappointed with the results, is that it? I thought to myself. Therefore the first reason some people smoke is because they think it makes them look good, well I am sorry it doesn't.

Other people smoke because they say it helps them to relax and that when they are stressed out that they need a cigarette. Now this might be true in some ways that it helps people to relax but in my opinion these people need to find other solutions to relieve their stress such as a stress ball. The time it takes to smoke a cigarette is about five minutes and your not telling me that it does that much good in that short space of time. I think people are just kidding themselves when they say that it helps them to reduce stress, it might do in that very short space of time when your smoking the fag but not over the longer period.

I smoke because my friends smoke, I have heard this statement so many times over the last few years. The statement continues, if they stop I would but at the moment I would find it hard to quit smoking as I am always socialising with them and being around their smoke would make it just too tempting etc. My response would be something like, if they jumped off a cliff would you?

As you can see smoking is a joke so do yourself and everybody else a favour and learn about ways to quit smoking today.

Are you thinking of quitting smoking...

Are you thinking of quitting smoking? Are you finding it hard to stop smoking cigarettes? Are you looking into the different ways of giving up smoking? If you have answered yes to any of these questions then this article may well be of benefit to you. I am going to write about and give advice about the best ways to quit smoking.

Lets face it smoking is quite an ugly habit to have. People who do smoke are starting to feel like the world is against them as they are being banned from smoking in so many new and different places. Governments around the universe are continually raising the amount of duty they put on cigarettes in an attempt to persuade people to kick the habit.

People who do not smoke look in disgust towards a smoker and at times even pity them. They can only guess at why they volunteer to throw their money down the drain in this way and not to mention the affect it is having on their health. No wonder they look towards a person who smokes as being a bit thick!

If you are smoker you owe it to yourself and your family to stop. Just think about the personal pride that you will feel if you can successfully beat this addiction. As already mentioned smoking is a habit and as we all know any habit is hard to break. Your family and friends will also be very impressed with you and will admire your achievment of quitting such a nasty habit. In the long term it may mean that you have longer to spend with your children and may be the difference of whether you do or you don't meet your grandchildren. Yes this is how serious it could be.

There are many additional reasons to quit smoking including the fact that it makes your clothes smell, it is a big turn off to most members of the opposite sex, it is very bad for your breath and teeth and it costs a lot of money.

Be brave and stop smoking cigarettes today.

Feeling out of breath lately...

Feeling out of breath lately? It might be from that habit you've been trying to quit for years: Smoking. Smoking doesn't just leave us out of breath at the end of the day, it also can make ones breath smell badly; creating unsavory odors on clothing, and worst of all lead to cancer. Smoking is becoming something of the past, and cities are reacting to this trend. In most major cities smoking is either banned, or limited to a few select places. On university campuses across America smoking is also banned. So it should become apparent to anyone that smokes that it is time to stop smoking today.

In order to stop smoking one must put their entire energy, and mind into the task. Making sure it is really a commitment you want to keep can be a task in itself. Many of those that have quit smoking needed several warm up rounds, and trial and error phases before actually kicking the habit completely. This is because to stop smoking completely for most individuals is not an easy thing to do, and can often result in relapses. One shouldn't be discouraged if the first attempt to stop smoking fails, as most people will go through this. The key is to keep going with the program, and look at it as just one step in the right direction. Keeping a positive attitude that you can do it, and if you falter, try again.

For those wishing to stop smoking, it is imperative to locate a program that will help you in the process. What works for some, might not work for others, and this is why it is important to go with a product or program that has a reputation for success, and is part of a user reviewed community that people have rated worthy of trying.

One great site is QuitSmokingRightNow, which offers a complete solution to quit smoking. This powerful website and e-book will be a one stop shop for those who want to quit smoking, and something that can fuel your motivation to truly stay quit. QuitSmokingRightNow is a site that offers its visitors helpful tips, and tricks to quick smoking, along with a full blown course kit to help users stop smoking all together.

Another quality site is SmokingChallenge. This website is full of helpful stop smoking information, along with a comprehensive course for sale that promises to help you stop smoking once and for all. This is the type of site that offers a course that shows one how to stop smoking, and makes it easy enough for those who want to give it a true shot to go for it and actually quit.

Whatever product you choose to go with, make sure you have a site that shows you customer reviews of the product, like the site Review Place. Review Place will show you what the real customers of sites like the ones listed above think about the programs, if they worked, how much they cost, and any other information that is important. This is good for those serious about trying to stop smoking.

Quitting smoking is something that is absolutely necessary in our society today. Doctors are now more than ever before proving that smoking is literally a massive killer, and it is not something that should be taken lightly. For those serious about trying to stop smoking, getting the right product may surely do the trick, and if the research is done right, you can be sure that now is the time that you will stop smoking for good.

Do you smoke cigarettes...

Do you smoke cigarettes? Are you thinking of quitting smoking? In this article I write about the benefits of stopping smoking, not just for the smokers themselves but also their family and friends.

When people are quite young they do not really think too much about death, well most of them don't anyway. A lot of these young people will start to smoke cigarettes and even though they are warned and read about the dangers of smoking, seem not to care or worry about them. Before they know it they become hooked on these cigarettes and smoking becomes an essential part of their everyday lives, where it is likely to have started merely as a social thing.

The facts are that the lives of people who smoke are likely to end prematurely, this should be reason enough for people to have the courage to start looking into ways of quitting smoking today. There is no point in working hard all of our lives, paying into pension schemes, saving for our retirement, if we are not going to be able to live a long life.

There are many other health related problems of course that can arise from smoking such as the premature birth of a baby. Then their is the issue of passive smoking which reports suggest can have a negative impact on our friends and families health. These people are very important to most of us and therefore why put them at risk aswell?

The cost of a packet of cigarettes is just staggering and the extra money smokers could have in their pockets each month if they were to become non-smokers would be quite substantial. Over a whole year this extra cash could even pay for a family holiday abroad. This is another example of how quitting smoking not only benefits the smoker but how it can als benefit their family.

In relationship terms, a large number of non-smokers find people who smoke a huge turn off. Stopping smoking could increase peoples chances of finding romance.

There are a number of avenues people can take in their quest to giving up smoking, including hypnotherapy. The smoker must truly want to stop and hopefully some of the reasons above could help. I am not trying to suggest that it is going to be easy but smokers owe it to themselves and their friends and families to give it their best shot to quit smoking once and for all.

I am somebody who has managed to quit smoking, it took a lot of determination and will power, there were many periods where I was seemingly desperate and had mad cravings for just one last cigarette, however I was able somehow to resist. In this article, I will be giving some advice about how I managed to successfully stop this nasty and unhealthy habit, advice which I hope will help other people to also quit.

I had tried many times to stop smoking cigarettes and had always failed after only a few days. What I needed to do, was to try to work out why these previous attempts had failed and to hopefully learn from my mistakes. In my new quest to stop smoking, I would need to have a whole new approach from any that I have had in the past, an approach which may result in success rather than the normal failure.

I decided that I would only try again to stop smoking, when my life was in what I classed as a good period. I am the kind of person who easily becomes stressed and I can make the slightest problem seem like the biggest disaster. When I feel that things are not going well in my life, cigarettes become like my friend. At least I have something to look forward to do in that day, smoking. When I am doing well and am happy, I have far less of a need to smoke, therefore this will be the type of period, when I will start yet again to quit the fags.

When attempting to stop smoking in the past, I have always told everybody. This is a big mistake as to quit it is important that you stop thinking about cigarettes completely. When you are constantly being asked about how you are finding giving up the cigarettes, it is like a constant reminder to you. By going about it in a quiet way, maybe only telling your closest family members and friends, makes it a whole lot easier.

As well as quitting smoking, I also decided to seriously reduce my intake of alcohol. When I had failed in the past, it was normally because I had been drunk and could no longer bat away the voices in my head that were telling me to smoke. The alcohol weakened my resolve and increased the amount and severity of the cravings. It was important therefore to massively reduce the amount of alcohol that I was drinking.

Another reason why I had failed in my previous attempts to quit smoking, was possibly due to spending too much time with other people who smoked. I decided that in this new quest, I would attempt to stay away from other smokers as much as I could. This was not that easy as quite a lot of my friends are smokers. I had to be determined and make sacrifices. What I am attempting to do could have a very positive affect on my life, I therefore have to have the courage to do everything in my power that I think will help to lead to a successful conclusion.

I hope this article acts as an inspiration for other people to stop smoking.

I feel that it is important that you have a number of good reasons as to why you want to stop smoking, as this will help you to get through the great number of cravings that you will no doubt have. I hope this article proves to be of inspiration and can help other people to cut cigarettes out of their lives once and for all.

When different governments around the world have attempted to convince people to stop smoking, they always seem to go down the health route. It could be by showing a man who is dying of cancer for example. I knew about all of the health risks that were involved with smoking but I still did it. This was because in my own mind these health problems were unlikely to really start affecting me for around thirty years. I used to say to myself that there is a good chance that I will not be alive in thirty years time and that I should live for today. I would also try to convince myself that if I do live for another thirty years that there is a good chance that they will have found a cure for cancer by that point. When I decided to stop smoking, health was one of the reasons why I wanted to quit, but it was by no means the main reason.

The main reason was without doubt financial. The price of a packet of twenty cigarettes in the UK has rocketed upwards over the last few years. It is not that I can not afford to continue buying them, it is that I would rather spend the money on other things such as clothes or a holiday. I have worked out that I save over a thousand pounds a year by no longer smoking. This for me is a lot of money and was what I always thought of when the demons in my head were trying to convince me to smoke just one last cigarette.

There were of course other reasons why I wanted to stop smoking. These include the amount they make your clothes smell, the amount they make your house smell, the affect they have on your teeth, the fact that most women find smoking a turn off and the sheer dependancy that one can get from cigarettes. For example I feel a bit stressed, I must therefore have a cigarette. I am drinking coffee, therefore I must smoke a cigarette.

It was very very hard to stop smoking cigarettes but all of the effort is more than worth it.
